Island Games

After the excitement and joy of London winning the race to host the 2012 Olympics, today saw the agony and disappointment after Anglesey missed out on the 2009 Island Games.

In a two-horse race, Anglesey lost out to Aland of Finland.

Gareth Winston Roberts, who holds the Anglesey Council's economic development portfolio, said: "Securing the Island Games for Ynys Môn (Welsh for Anglesey) was as important for us, as London winning its bid to host the 2012 Olympics.

I'm gutted ;)
